Auto merging of posts

I saw this in the features for 5.2

Consecutive posts by the same user in the same thread are automatically merged within a certain period of time.

Can someone be more specific please?

It would be good if there was a toggle on this to enable consecutive posts to be merged after a given amount of time, like 30 seconds etc

Whatever value you have set to the group permission Delay for Consecutive Posts. Any post made inside this window will cause the post to be merged, posts made past this period will create an actual new post.

Sorry if I appear to be a little dumb, lol, but what setting would it be for all double posts to always merge infinitely regardless of time span?

Try the value -1. But I'm not sure if it is possible there.
