Ability to add a Poll with a box

I notice there is no option to add a Vote Poll without the forum APP installed, but the setting for Poll is there in the Core app. Any chance the CMS can make use of the Poll feature - able to maybe use a custom box with an option to show a vote poll, Or is not possible without the forum app installed?
