Enable url-rewrite .htaccess configuration?

  • Affected Version
    WoltLab Suite 3.0

Woltlab core is installed in http://www.mydomain.com/forum/

Woltlab forum is installed in http://www.mydomain.com/forums/

Woltlab gallery is installed in http://www.mydomain.com/gallery/

My vbulletin installation is currently in the root directory http://www.mydomain.com/ and it has htaccess file in the root directory that's responsible for changing www. URLs to non-www, and the sitemap.

I put the WSF code (as per instructions here

Setting up user friendly URLs ) below the existing code see below.

Now the forum and gallery urls don't work at all, they get redirected to root which is my vbulletin installation. Please advise.

  • Where did you place the .httaccess-file for Woltlab? If you use different directorys, you need to put it in every directory, because Apache will use the file in the root (Forums, Gallery) - and that's the one for vBulletin - if there is no own file in this directory...

  • I merged the WSF code with the other code in the htaccess file that's already in the root directory (for vbulletin). I'll try adding an htaccess files to each of the 3 WSF directories.

  • I put htaccess file in each of the 3 directories. The URLs are now displayed correctly (rewritten without "index?") but instead of showing the WSF page it shows my vbulletin homepage but all messed just text.

I don't know wich version of vBulletin you use, version 4 is to long ago and i can't remeber it exactly - vB5 heavily modifies things in the htaccess-file - i am pretty sure you run in conflicts ,merging the files... In general, i think it's a bad idea to run both productive with your setup. Do you want to migrate or why do you run this setup?

  • Code
    RewriteBase /

    .

    Apache Configuration
    # Rewrite application /
    RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?$1 [L,QSA]

Both of them pointing to vB....

  • I was going to run this setup until I made sure the migration is successful, and I could see WSF has all the features i need. Once I was satisfied I would remove the vbulletin installation and move WSF to the root. I just wanted to see how URL rewrite works first.

But I like WSF so to make things simple I just moved it to the root folder to make things easy with the htaccess file. This code worked for the friendly urls and the www. rewrite (WSF is at the root directory and the core is in /forum/):
