Please enable the full beta

    WoltLab Suite 3.0

Everytime WoltLab has a public beta I notice you only enable the forums. I feel we could obtain a lot more feedback and be a lot more productive if you enabled the full suite and not just the forums. This would allow for a better final release. Please also know, that by the time you're confident enough to add it to woltlab.com, a lot is not tested there that would be tested here on the beta site.

  • do you mean by full suite are:

WoltLab Suite Blog 3.0 Beta 4
WoltLab Suite Calendar 3.0 Beta 4
WoltLab Suite Filebase 3.0 Beta 4
WoltLab Suite Forum 5.0 Beta 4
WoltLab Suite Gallery 3.0 Beta 4

YES, but I can think of 2 reasons why it should be fully enabled here.

I am aware I can download it, but for testing, it is me and only a few select staff members. I myself, and I cannot imagine I am alone, use the beta site here as a "controlled baseline" for comparison. That comparison is dramatically reduced with most of the suite missing here.

I feel WoltLab would get a wider test base for testing and see no reason why they would not enable it here on the beta site. Because while I can test locally, I feel the general public or those unable to test the software locally, are being excluded.

There is a greater benefit in enabling the full suite on the test site and I cannot imagine what benefit is gained by not doing so.

  • ^ To follow up on this; these 2 confirmed bugs, would not have been reported had I not been able to compare them with the public beta site

    1. Font zero allowed
    2. Possible to exceed allowed font size

Originally, I had thought I had done something to my own test site and dismissed it as not a problem. It is only because I was able to compare it with the public beta site and use it as a baseline, thus confirm the issue, that they even got reported.

Plus as it stands now, everyone else who is unable to test this on their own local setup is being excluded. We all benefit greatly by making the public beta site completely available (not just the forum software).

    A good point!

In der Regel ziemlich beschäftigt ...

  • yes, i agree with it.

Personally I prefer to test things here (beta.woltlab.com) than my own installation.

As do I. My test site is mostly being used by staff to learn the new layout and familiarize themselves. With them changing settings, it is a lot easier to come here to run a test. Likewise, even if I installed a 2nd test site, I would still exclude it as a baseline since I control it. I feel the baseline should always be the independent source and what better than the actual development source?!.

Abuse_and_Troll_Test : Sorry, I got you partially wrong, thus I had a different situation in mind. You as well as Geronimo were right, so needless to say that I simply had to delete my reply in order to not confuse readers. Beg your pardon ;(and consider my intrusion as kind of non-existing. Well, guess it's time to offer a cookie and asking "Still friends?" ;)

So, never mind me, the thread's still open for discussion and I'll stand in the corner, writing 100 lines on "Why it's important to read correctly".:/X/

    ^ This.

I do not understand your line of thinking duplicate Tester123 My request is to have the whole preview available here for everyone to test. We already are testing the forum, why not everything else here?
