Watermarks, Albums and Beyond

  • We have turned numerous suggestions from our customers into useful enhancements and new features that will be shipped with version 2.1 of WoltLab Gallery. They improve both the user experience and the abilities offered to uploading users - below is a list of the most important improvements we've made:

Uploaded images can be automatically processed to display a watermark as set by the administrator. You can chose to apply text- or image-based watermarks along with a fine-grained controlled over the actual position and transparency. Text-based watermarks can be language-dependent and offer a placeholder to automatically incorporate the uploading user's username.

The settings shown above result in an appearance as shown below:

    Improved Navigation

Hovering the image on the image page will display two arrows that can be clicked to navigate to the next resp. previous image of the same album, obeying the image sort order.

List of Albums in a User's Profile

An additional tab in the user profile will display a list of owned albums by the respective user.

    Easier BBCode to Embed Gallery-Images

Gallery images can now be embedded using a short and simple bbcode, e.g. in posts or blog articles. It obeys album permissions and can serve different sizes of the image.

New Box for Dashboard & Gallery Start Page

The current primary box visible on the gallery start page makes use of the Ken Burns effect to present larger images. Yet, there are cases in which you want to go with medium sizes images and present them in an appealing manner. WoltLab Gallery 2.1 introduces the new Image Grid box that can be used on both the gallery page and on your dashboard to present images. Automatically adapting to the design width or windows width (for flexible width designs), the box always makes best use of the available space. On medium sizes displays (e.g. tablets) the most right column disappears while on small displays (e.g. smartphones) only the bigger sized image is shown.

Search & Filter the Album List

The list of albums can now be filtered by specific categories or used to run a search against the albums to find the one you were looking for.
