Start Page

    WoltLab Suite Forum

In Appearance > List Menu Items ... I have replaced the forum with another application as the top menu item. This should make that application the Start Page. This worked without any problems in BB 4.0, but for some reason in BB 4.1 the Start Page is always the forum.

The forum is not my site's purpose and I don't want visitors to land there when they enter the site.

Is there a way to change this? Or is this a bug in 4.1?

  • I hope that at the very least one of the developers will acknowledge that there is a problem and that they are working on a solution. If this can't be solved this would ruin my web site.

  • Was ist tdl?

@Alexander Ebert funktionieren.

  • I spoke to my hosting company, Strato, and they said that virtual servers, such as mine, use a folder called httpdocs as the root directory. This is done because the physical server is divided into several virtual servers. I'm not sure if this is the cause of my problem or not. Like I said before, everything worked just fine under BB 4.0.

I need the Start Page to be freesoftwareportal.net/easylink

  • well, in this case you need to move your forum first from your root-directory to an other direktory like mydomain.net/forum/ or mydomain.net/board/ and after this your easylink installation form mydomain.net/easylink/ directly into your root direktory.
@Throwholics postet a link which explans the way you have to go ;)

  • I've seen this workaround, and that would probably work, but I would like the developers to fix this problem. The settings in ACP > Appearance > Page Menu ought to work. In 4.1 something changed and it needs to be fixed.

This is a major bug and shouldn't be ignored.

    This is very true.

I just did the test and installed fresh:

    WBB 4.0 / WCF 2.0
    Gallery
    Calendar
    Blog
    EasyLink
    Chat

    And

    WBB 4.1 /WCF2.1
    Gallery
    Calendar
    Blog
    EasyLink
    Chat

If i switch in the WBB 4.0 Installation the page menu from forum to Gallery or any of the others as start page and open the domain:
    domain.com

    then its goes to domain.com/Gallery

So it at least shows the selected start page instantly (if one want to remove the folder after the domain one definiely has to physically move the folders)

But if i follow the same procedure in the WBB 4.1 installation it does not work anymore.
The forum will always be the landing page when opening domain.com,
only the header menu (logo area) will redirect you the the selected first page in page menu settings

@Alexander Ebert I could provide you with access to both test installations if you cannot reprdouce the error.
