I would really like to see WBB add an automatic image resizing option. If my site has a 2 mb image limit and a user tries to upload a 4 mb image this would reduce the image to fit the set limits.

Automatic Image Resizing

This would've come in handy for me today when I wanted to attach an image on my iPad!
-
This is already scheduled for Burning Board 4.2: Dateianhänge: Bilder wie in der Galerie in der Auflösung anpassen...

I'm really looking forward to this because its driving me crazy not being able to resize images on my iPad!

Has this been implemented?

Yes, this was implemented in 5.2.

It automatically resizes uploaded attachments in forum posts to configured maximum size?

Alexander Ebert Awesome! So when I'm extending my current license for $49.99 I'm getting the 5.2 forum version?
Will it upgrade my current 5.1 installation or do I need to reinstall/migrate? Any possible problems?

Yes, and 5.3 will also be included.
Will it upgrade my current 5.1 installation
It's an upgrade via the admin panel: Upgrading WoltLab Suite 3.1 to WoltLab Suite 5.2.

Upgraded to 5.2 was smooth and is working perfectly. Didn't expect having to upgrade the gallery too. But the automatic image resizing alone is worth the upgrade to me.
-
I'm getting 1mb images being uploaded by members.

Thanks, I did that will see how it goes. Although resolution doesn't always directly affect data size. I thought this feature would control/adjust data size directly.
Alexander Ebert How do I get rid of or change the text appended at the end of each image name _autoscaled.jpg?

You cannot, but I can
I have just removed this for 5.3, it will not be present in Beta 2 and later.

That's (physically) not possible. But you can control the data size a bit at the same point: Just set the data-type to "JPEG" and the quality a little bit lower.
This setting may reduce the quality (e.g. photos), but also the file-size.

When will 5.3 be available?

The Beta 1 was launched yesterday [1] and we're looking forward to release the final version in October.
