No, it isn't.
The CHMODS needed for the packagesystem. -
WoltLab says that there is no risk, but WoltLab is saying much on long days *lol*

thanks for your reply

Hi again Evandro
I never see this [other systems ...] one of my install of wbb was moved of to other host - and a lot of chmods turns to 644 or 755 ... i spend a lot of time yesterday with errors and new chmod in folder 1, folder 2 ....Maybe it's interesting make some faq about this - all install to 777.
Tks a lot
Abraços
Joao

I never had a problem with any install of wbb.
I never should change anything.
But in any way, we will thing about it.

its very unrecommended to chmod data to 777 as it makes your file at security risks

Hello gerard,
well ... how we setup chmods?
tks
joao -
The most ftp-programs have a context menu by a right click on a folder / file.
Maybe watch by right click under "chmods" or "properties" or "rights".Or, if you are using an unix system, use the command "chmod -R WBB and WCF folder".
-
Hello Habit,
sorry my poor english - In fact I know how I setup chmods with ftp clients - the question remains about the structure of chmods in wbb install.
But thank you
Joao Barroca

Oh, sorry! Then it was a disagreement!
You should set the chmods complete to 777, for all folders and files.
If you aren't set the chmods to 777 the package system and the automatic update can be effect a crash, because the WCF and wBB3 haven't the needed rights to update files. -
i'd like to see a woltlab team member answer about CHMOD
i still believe we shoul not CHMOD all to 777, we should at least protect config files.
another thing today i tried to chmod all to 777 and my forum went down, i got 500 internal error -

And like Gerard, my host doesn’t allow to set the file system with 777 (and make an 500 error if I do it).I never changed the chmod of the wbb folder when I installed it, and it was always working well. After the installation, all the folder are 755, I guess it’s enough

We are three now

In the german threads we're talking about this topic very often.
German Thread: [not a bug] Problem nach Umzug
Jeder Ordner und jede Datei braucht chmod 777.
Translated: Every folder and every file have to set to chmod 777.
-------------755 could be enaugh, but then you could get problems with edit/delete files. Maybe PHP uses another owner/group than the webserver.
-
setting all to 777 give 500 internal error
setting all to 755 give errors when installing pluginsWhat should we do???????
-
Give all files 777, only the "directly used" files give you 755.
755 for:
wbb/index.php
wbb/acp/index.phpwcf/acp/index.php
It should work with these settings.
-
you mean 777 for folders "directories" and 755 for files?
