Package servers of the WoltLab Community

Two package-servers are bundled with the installation of the WoltLab Community Framework.
Both server represent each the stable versions of WoltLab and the stable versions of the WoltLab Community.

As some developers offer preview-versions of their addons, which are obviously not stable, there are different package-servers.
You can add a new package-server within your AdminControlPannel:
  • System -> Packages -> Add new server

Please remember that Release Candidates and Beta-versions of plugins could lead to problems within your installation. Use those plugins only with care and only within your test-environments, in order to prevent data-loss.
Those are the servers available:

Packages for WCF 1.0 (Horizon) and WBB 3.0 (Sunrise)
  • Stable versions (For example: 1.2.3 / 1.2.3.final / 1.2.3.pl.4)
This represents the stable version of plugins. This server should already be installed within your setup.

  • Release Candidates (Bsp.: 1.2.3.rc.4)
This plugins are not marked as stable, but already in a very late development cycle.

  • Developement-, Alpha- and Beta-versions (Bsp.: 1.2.3.dev.4 / 1.2.3.alpha.4 / 1.2.3.beta.4)
This server represents the early phase of developement, the unstable plugins. There is no guarantee that this plugins will work at all, also there is a high risk for problems with the plugins and your WoltLab Community Framework.

Here is a short description of the version numbers and the different package servers:

Like the WBB/WCF packages there are three different package servers, unstable, testing and stable.
The assignment to the servers works with keywords (everything that is in version_compare).

beta in the name -> unstable (although alpha and dev)
rc in the name -> testing
only number e.g. 1.0.1 or final in the name -> stable

We recommend the version number system like in WBB

x.y.z

x main release, new code
y big functions update
z bugfixes and small function updates

pl x for small bugfixes after a final release

Changes have to be seen in relation to the whole plugin. If you have a small plugin a small update allows a version step on the y position
